About Channel Health ...
Channel Health is the UK's first dedicated health and lifestyle TV channel and interactive
website - covering subjects such as medical advances, nutrition, alternative therapies, fitness,
beauty and relaxation - which offers content designed to entertain as well as inform.
Channel Health has recently extended its schedule from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week,
which can be viewed on Sky Digital channel 193 in the entertainment genre. The channel
is broadcast free-to-air to 3.8 million homes - by 2001, it will be seen in 6 million homes.
Channel Health's many contributors come from both conventional medical and alternative
therapy backgrounds. Its successful flagship shows, Highly Alternative and Chill Out,
combine the experience of high profile experts such as Sunday Times columnist and 1997
Health Journalist of the Year, Hazel Courteney; internationally renowned masters of
relaxation, Eddie and Debbie Shapiro; and leading addictions expert, Dr Robert Lefever. US
psychologist and relationship therapist, Dr Chuck Spezzano, holds personal development
workshops in his own show, Change Your Life TV. And coming up later in the year,
international star and glamour icon Joan Collins will reveal some of her health and beauty
tips - and those of her celebrity friends - in My Secrets.
Other new shows in the schedule include First Taste, an original and informative cookery
show about food for babies and toddlers presented by leading chef Lesley Waters; Lets
Get Healthy, presented by Linda Ohlson-Coppin and GP, Dr David Bull, looking at family
health and lifestyle issues; and House Busters, in which astrologer Russell Grant leads a
team of psychic experts in resolving viewers' domestic and household problems.
Channel Health has also recently re-launched its fully interactive website at
channelhealth.tv with a fresh new look. Channel Health's multi-platform distribution
network capitalises upon the potential for convergence of content delivery, by way of
television, the Internet and mobile phones. The channel's web content is designed to be
updated daily and in real time, allowing information from a number of sources to be
contained in one unique database. The production process is adaptable to all new media,
providing full interaction between the viewer, the channel and the website.
Channelhealth.tv is easy to navigate and reflects the diverse and informative nature of
the Channel Health television channel. The site has a separate experts' channel and TV
area, as well as categories for health, lifestyle and fitness. Detailing a lot of the information
contained in the shows, the site features top tips, advice and articles from the presenters of
Channel Health. Viewers can buy many of the items featured on the shows as well as a
wide variety of health-related products in the online pharmacy.
The variety of medications include the most popular drugs, for example viagra,
cialis pills, prozac antidepressant drug, and
also almost all list of FDA approved medications and health products available to be sold online.
Some examples are tramadol (or it's brand name ultram),
relafen pain reliever,
elly lilly's levitra ED treatment and many others.
Visitors to the site will
also be able to contact some of the presenters and ask their expert advice on a wide range
of topics. An association with Healthworld Online brings a comprehensive and authoritative
medical conditions section, part of Channel Health's drive to provide a one-stop-shop for all
health information. Also offered on the website is a daily news feed and a daily health
horoscope from astrologer Lisha Simester. And with sections for special offers, quizzes,
retail therapy and investor relations, the Channel Health website is more content-dense and
primed for the next stage of development - the ability to use the website in concentrated
form over your television set.
